Day 1
Boston
Beacon Hill in Boston
Beacon Hill in Boston

Welcome to Boston, Massachusetts. This capital city was founded in 1630 and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It played a key role in the American Revolution and the freedom of our country today. As you board the lovely M/V Victory II, settle into your outside stateroom before joining your fellow guests for dinner with free flowing house wines and cocktails.

Day 2
Provincetown / Cape Cod
Whale Watching

Provincetown is located on the northern tip of the Cape Cod Peninsula where the Mayflower landed in 1620 before heading to Plymouth. For our shore excursions, guests will enjoy our "Dolphin Fleet" adventure, a whale watching expedition with an onboard naturalist sailing into the deep waters of Cape Cod. In the afternoon, we'll take a Trolley Tour of Provincetown, including the extraordinary Pilgrim Monument and the Provincetown Museum, which houses the "Mayflower Compact" and other treasures. We then head out of town to visit the remarkable Cape Cod National Seashore with its rolling sand dunes. We'll end the day in the heart of Provincetown, strolling along Commerial Street and exploring the narrow lanes of the gallery district.

Day 3
Newport, Rhode Island
Newport, RI
Newport, RI

Mansions and grand homes are synonymous with Newport, birthplace of the "Gilded Age." America's richest and most famous families flocked to this elegant seaside resort and turned it into their summer playground. Newport has been called "America's Versailles" becasue of the elaborate archtecture in its National Historic Landmarks district. In the morning, we'll visit The Breakers, home of the Vanderbilts and grandest of all Newport's sumer cottages. We'll also visit The Elms, built in 1898 and designed with the French Château d'Asnieres in mind. After lunch onboard, we will have free time to explore the "Old Port" in this lovely maritime community.

Day 4
Plymouth, Massachusetts -or- Martha's Vineyard

Day 4: Plymouth, Massachusetts

This morning we'll head out to Cape Cod Bay and Stellwagen Bank for a mesmorizing whale watching expedition. In the afternoon, we'll journey to the Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum bringing the daily activities of colonial America to life. In addition to learning about the Pilgrims, you'll leave with an appreciation of the Native American Wampanoag tribe and their relationship with the Pilgrims during the colonial era. At the conclusion of our visit, guests can see Plymouth Rock for themselves.

Day 4 Alternative: Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard is the largest island off the coastal United States that is unconnected to the mainland by bridge or tunnel. It features a profusion of gingerbread cottages, fishing villages, lighthouses, fabulous beaches and the famous Aquinnah cliffs. We'll begin our visit in the community of Oak Bluffs and onward to the year-round seaport of Vineyard Haven, with its many boutiques, beautiful harbor and one of the five island lighthouses. After lunch onboard, we'll take a 20-mile scenic ride "up-island" through the historic farming towns of Chilmark and West Tisbury, with beautiful barns, stone walls, and scenic overlooks. We'll visit the working fishing village of Menemsha, the Cliffs of Aquinnah, and the 1799 Gay Head lighthouse. We return down-island to Edgartown to view the elegant homes of whaling captains with their turn of the century charm and a stop at the famous Edgartown lighthouse.

Day 5
Portland, Maine
Portland Head Light
Portland Head Light

Portland's waterfront combines active fishing wharves with warehouses, shops and museums. Departing from the port, we'll take a picturesque drive through the elegant Victorian Mansion district, past the boyhood home of American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and out to Casco Bay and the famous Portland Head Light. After lunch onboard, we'll take a short ride to Kennebunkport, a shipbuilding mecca since the early 1600s. This New England community has long been the summer residence of President G. W. Bush. After soaking up the maritime atmosphere of this quaint community, we'll make our way back through the architecturally significant homes of nearby Kennubunk, visiting the Franciscan Monastery and pausing by the quirky "wedding cake house."

Day 6
Bar Harbor, Maine -or- Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
Acadia National Park
Acadia National Park

Day 6: Bar Harbor

The town of Bar Harbor is located on Mount Desert Island, nestled inside Frenchman’s Bay, along the rugged Atlantic coastline of Maine. After breakfast, a brief coach ride will take us to Acadia National Park, which is the smallest designated park of its type in the Unites States. Our first stop will be at lovely Sand Beach, flanked by pink Granite walls and opening to the Atlantic on one side. We'll motor up Cadillac Mountain to the extraordinary Thunder Hole and take in the view from the highest elevation on the eastern seaboard, with stunning views across Frenchman’s Bay to the Atlantic Ocean below. On our way back to Bar Harbor, we'll visit the Abbe Museum to learn about the Wabanaki Indian Nations who lived in this coastal region. In the afternoon, enjoy lunch on your own at a local restaurant with time to stroll the pretty coastal outpost community of Bar Harbor.

Day 6 Alternative: Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

The Old Town of Lunenberg is one of only two urban communities in North America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This morning, we'll tour Lunenburg's harbor-side streets, lined with unique shops and colorfully painted homes. We'll visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, which exhibits wharf-side vessels, an aquarium, and the famous Bluenose II, a replica of the original world famous racing schooner. After lunch, we'll embark on a scenic drive through Mahone Bay, famous for its pictureque natural beauty, handsome churches dotting the shore, and Nova Scotia's largest fishing fleet.

Day 7
Scenic Sailing of the Atlantic Coast
Sunset over the lake

For our day of Atlantic sailing, we'll follow the path of the fishing trawlers who leave the northern extremities of the United States, past the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, heading out to sea. Unlike them, however, we'll turn northeast and hug the coast of Nova Scotia, passing storied harbors full of maritime history, picturesque coastal towns, and spectacular natural beauty.

Day 8
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Halifax waterfront
Halifax, Nova Scotia

This morning we'll arrive in the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. After breakfast aboard you will disembark the ship and make your way to the airport for your return flight home.
